Human Resources completed a compensation review in 2005 with the results implemented in October 2005. The first step in that process was to obtain job responsibility and other important information about all full time staff positions through a Job Analysis Questionnaire (JAQ). Each full time staff employee had the opportunity to play an essential role in the process by completing a JAQ for their position.
The JAQ provided a consistent basis to compare jobs with other jobs that have similar responsibilities and skill requirements. It also provided the starting point or basis to create updated job descriptions from the information provided in the JAQ's.
Yavapai College adopted a broad approach to developing job descriptions where we patterned the descriptions to reflect families of positions. In the past, the college developed a description for each and every position, or approximately 400 of them. Job family descriptions significantly reduce this number.
