Human Resources completed a compensation review in 2005 with the results implemented in October 2005. Compensation reviews are standard procedure in most organizations, and they are generally conducted every five years. Previous to the 2005 review, our last review was in 1998.
Since the 2005 Compensation Study, the college has adopted a 3 year review cycle ensuring that all positions are reviewed at least every 3 years. In 2007, grades 1 through 8 were reviewed, with the results implemented in July 2008.
In 2007, Faculty salary schedules were adjusted upward by adding a step to the top of each range. In 2008, the ranges were further adjusted by eliminating the first (entry) step, and adding yet another step to the top of each range.
In 2006, the college adjusted it's Adjunct Faculty load hour rate from $545 per load hour to $595 per load hour. For Fall semester 2008, the college further adjusted the Adjunct Faculty load hour rate from $595 per load hour to $620 per load hour.
The college is currently beginning review of Grades 14 and up, with at target implementation of those results of July 2010.
This is good practice in every kind of business, but particularly for our College. We want to maintain our high quality education; and to do that, we must be sure that our salaries are competitive so that we can attract and retain the very best people.
