Camp Verde

Camp Verde is located in the geographical center of Arizona, 86 miles north of Phoenix in Yavapai County. The area's climate is arid and features mild winters and hot summers frequently cooled by monsoon rains. Nestled on the Verde River and transected by Beaver Creek and West Clear Creek, Camp Verde occupies a rare and enviable position among Arizona cities and towns. The beauty of Camp Verde's riparian areas is contrasted with the stark majesty of desert cliffs, providing both respite and recreation for the outdoor enthusiast.

Montezuma Castle National MonumentIn this town rich in history, the national monuments at Montezuma Castle and Montezuma Well offer visitors a trip back in time and provide opportunities to learn about the cliff dwellers of the ancient Sinagua Indian tribe. Each year Fort Verde State Historic Park reacquaints 40,000 visitors to the hardships that soldiers and settlers faced on the frontier in the center of what is now Camp Verde.

Today, the town of Camp Verde embraces its American Indian and western roots with historic ranching and farming interests interspersed with commercial development and mining activities. The community enjoys local services, friendly neighborhoods and small town prosperity, including a casino developed and operated by the Yavapai-Apache Nation.
