Sports Medicine Staff

Terra Schmidt, ATC

Terra joined the Athletic Staff at Yavapai College in 2005-2006. 2006-2007 marked her first year as Yavapai College's Head Athletic Trainer.

Terra graduated from California State University-Fresno with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Medicine in May 2004.

She is currently working on her Masters in Management.

Terra's experience includes work with Fresno State Athletics, arena football, many different athletic camps as well as clinical work. Both California natives, Terra and her husband, Josh (who is also an Athletic Trainer At Embry Riddle) currently reside in Chino Valley and enjoy hiking, fishing and hunting with their dog, Drake.

Jared Campbell, ATC

This is Jared's first year as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Yavapai College. He received an Associates Degree in Athletic Training from Brigham Young University-Idaho and a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Northern Arizona University in May, 2005.

Since graduating, he continues to work at Peterson Physical Therapy as well as Yavapai College. Jared and his wife, Deeann currently reside in Prescott with their little girl, Michaela and enjoy the outdoors.

Dr. Daniel Burchfield, MD, PhD

Dr. Daniel Burchfield MD, PhD, has been the team physician for Yavapai College since his relocation to Prescott in 1998.

He is a founding partner of Orthopedic Specialists and works with most of the teams in the Prescott area. "Doc" was the team physician for USA Swimming at the world championships in Perth, Australia in 1998 and the USA Jr. National team for the Sydney Olympic Youth Festival in 2000.

He has a Bachelor's from University of California at Riverside. An MS from the Ohio State University. A PhD. from the Ohio State University and an MD from the College of Ohio. He then had a two year sportsmedicine fellowship at UCLA.

Burchfield and his family live in Prescott, and is a member of the board of directors at the YMCA, and the Medical Director of physical medicine and rehab services at Yavapai Regional Medical Center. His interests are his family, backpacking, wood working, photography and fly fishing.
