Aspiring filmmakers, take note! The Zaki Gordon Institute for Independent Filmmaking (ZGI) is offering workshops this summer. Invest a little time at a low price and indulge your inner artist!
This summer the Zaki Gordon Institute in Sedona, Ariz. will offer the following workshops for only $125 per workshop.
The Essence of Filmmaking

July 9-12, 2009 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Yavapai College’s Sedona Center for Arts & Technology
Instructor: Jeremy Hawkes
Cost: $125
Learn the steps of taking your concept from script through production. This workshop will be a combination of interactive lectures with equipment demonstration. Whether you want to make a short video for youtube or a feature film, this will provide you with the basic know-how. You will also explore distribution and marketing and how that affects your pre-production planning.

Cost: $125
This workshop will provide an in-depth study of the primary feature set and basic interface of "FCP". You'll learn to perform basic editing functions while familiarizing yourself with the user interface. Topics include basic set-up, adjusting and customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, various editing and trimming techniques, finishing and final output.

Focusing on documentary filmmaking, the first week of the workshop starts with breaking down a documentary into its core elements. You will learn how to prepare a treatment, shooting for B-Roll and lighting, camera and sound techniques specific to the art of documentary. Week two's emphasis is on post-production to include editorial.
