Grants
Grants are gift awarded to qualified undergraduate students demonstrating exceptional financial need. Grants do not have to be repaid as long as enrollment for the semester in which you receive the grant is maintained
Federal Grants
- Pell Grants
- Students who have not received a Bachelor's degree may be eligible for this federal grant program. The amount of the award will depend on your Student Aid Index (SAI) resulting from the FAFSA and student's enrollment status.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
- FSEOG is awarded by YC to students with high financial need. The amount of the FSEOG award will depend on the level of financial need and enrollment status. YC has limited FSEOG funds and awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Grants are disbursed each semesterbased on your enrollment status as of the PELL recalculation (PRC) date. PELL grant recipients cannot receive more than 600% of PELL grants in a lifetime. For more information, contact your Financial Aid Advisor.
Loans
Student loans are funds provided to a student for educational expenses and are considered self-help financial aid because you must repay the money loaned to you. Loans are the last type of aid for which you are considered, after gift aid and Federal Work-Study.
The Yavapai College Financial Aid Office has adopted and abides by the Arizona Student Loan Code of Conduct and the NASFAA Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct.
Manage Your Debt
Before borrowing, remember that loans must be repaid. Use a loan payment calculator to investigate how much your monthly payment may be before you decide to borrow loans.
Students can review their student loan balance by logging into their FSA account at StudentAid.Ed.Gov. You can find information by starting at our Dashboard -> View Details.

Loan requirements
Students who borrow under the Direct Student Loan program at Yavapai College are also required to complete Direct Loan Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) through studentloans.gov before loans can be released. Students must also complete exit loan counseling when they graduate, leave school, or drop below half time enrollment status.
If a student attends less than full semester classes ONLY, their Cost of Attendance may be prorated based on the number of weeks they are in attendance. This may limit their loan eligibility for that term.
Scholarships
Scholarships are a type of financial aid that does not need to be paid back and is awarded on various criteria, which usually reflect the values and purposes of the donor or founder of the award. They can be merit-based, need-based, student-specific, career-specific and/or college-specific.
