Kayla completed her EMT through the YC EMT program in the spring of 2023 and then went on to complete the YC Fire Academy in the fall of 2023. Since completing these programs, Kayla has been hired full-time with the Williamson Valley/Mayer/Bagdad Fire Department in January of 2024!

Kayla says she liked the EMT program because it gave her all the basics of EMS. She said all the instructors were great and helpful and that she met some incredible people she’s still friends with and now gets to see out in the field.

She also shared that her experience at the YC Fire Academy was great because it pushed her physically and mentally. She said all of the instructors and techs were extremely helpful in preparing her to start applying to fire departments.
