Few things can warm a winter night better than a set list from a talented performer who has made the entire country sit up and notice. The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center invites you to join us for an unforgettable evening of country, blues, and soul with American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, Friday night February 7, at 7 p.m., on Yavapai College’s Prescott Campus.
Armed with down-home charm, a storyteller’s soul and serious chops on both harmonica and guitar, Taylor Hicks lit up the fifth season of FOX’s American Idol in 2006 when he made judge Simon Cowell eat his words and won the hearts of more than 200 viewers across the globe. At 29, Hicks became the oldest contestant to win American Idol – a triumph he parlayed into two subsequent albums (Taylor Hicks and The Distance) and a Number One Billboard hit (“Do I Make You Proud”).
Onstage, Hicks is renowned for combining blues, country, soul and rock with his onstage charisma and a down-home approachability. His musical versatility allows him to tell moving songs of his own (“Just to Feel That Way,” “Heaven Knows,” and his 2023 single, “Porch Swing”) as well as powerful covers of classics (like Elton John’s “Levon” and the Doobie Brothers’ “Takin’ It to the Streets”)
The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center will celebrate Taylor Hicks’ Feb. 7 concert with a pre-show Harmonica Contest. Judging will commence at 6:30 p.m. Bring your Blues Harp – and come prepared to wail!
Tickets for Taylor Hicks start at $39. The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center is located on the Yavapai College Prescott Campus, 1100 E. Sheldon Street, in Prescott.
