The Yavapai College District Governing Board (DGB) approved the College budget for 2021-2022 today with a 4-to-1 vote at its annual budget adoption meeting.
The approved budget does not include an increase in the property tax levy for Yavapai County residents, effectively lowering the total property tax in the county for the third consecutive year.
The budget also will not increase tuition costs for students, reinforcing YC as one of the greatest values in the state for higher education. YC’s base tuition rate will remain at $95 per credit hour for part-time students. Full-time students receive a discount and only pay $1,140 for a 15-credit semester.
YC tuition is the second-lowest-cost for full-time students in the state and roughly 80% lower than Arizona public universities.
Yavapai College offers significant discounts for currently enrolled high school students, recent high school graduates, full-time students, and senior citizens. The College is also offering one class free to all students for the fall 2021 semester.
The approved fiscal year 2021-22 budget totals $92.9 million and is 12.4% more than the current fiscal year 2020-2021 budget. The increase is due primarily to $9.8M in additional grants to be spent in Yavapai County.
The budget features funding for new strategic initiatives to help provide accessible and affordable education to all of Yavapai County and help YC communities reskill and recover from the pandemic. Some of the new initiatives include:
This fall semester, the College plans to welcome back all students to in-person classes and services. Online classes will also remain available. Registration for the summer and fall semesters is now open, and classes are filling up. Please visit www.yc.edu for more information.
