Shake off the Dog Days of August with the rapid-fire wit and improvisational style of one of America’s finest comedians. Yavapai College proudly presents the clever, manic and relentlessly funny Paula Poundstone, Friday night, August 18, at 7 p.m., at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center.

Paula Poundstone can find the “funny” anywhere – in daily life, relationships, politics, or the moment at hand. Her audience becomes confidants and co-conspirators as she shares her perspective with a signature, acerbic delivery that can leave you laughing and thinking for days.

Recognized on Comedy Central as one of the 100 Best Standup Comics of All Time, Paula’s stand-up act is the centerpiece of a remarkable career that stretches from live performance to literature, from radio to television and podcasts and beyond. As the anchor panelist on National Public Radio’s immensely popular news quiz, Wait! Wait!... Don’t Tell Me! She can be heard most weekends wrestling the world’s thorniest events into punchlines.

She has written two books, including The Totally Unscientific Search for Human Happiness, which was a finalist for the Thurber Prize in American Humor. Her HBO Special Cops, Cats and Stuff made Paula the first comedienne to win a cable ACE award for Best Comedy Special. Paula was the first female stand-up to play the White House Correspondent’s Dinner. Her commentaries appear on CBS Sunday Morning, and she currently hosts her own comedy podcast, Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone, dropping new episodes every Tuesday.
