Rewriting an entire record book is not an easy thing to do in softball. It’s even harder to do it as a pitcher AND as a hitter, but that’s just the kind of player that Jenna Rodriguez was during her time at YC. In addition to two-time All-Conference, All-Region and All-American honors, Jenna is in the top-ten in the following statistical categories at YC: hits, homer and RBI’s as a hitter and wins, innings pitched, ERA, strikeouts and shutouts as a pitcher. Even more impressive is the fact that these aren’t empty stats, she performed at the highest level: on the national stage, helping lead the Roughriders to the national tournament in 2008 and 2009 and capped her illustrious Roughrider career off with a one-run complete-game victory in the national title game in 2009.
“It was Jenna’s tenacity and fierce competitiveness that made me realize that she was exactly what a new program like YC needed to be successful quickly.”
A quote from former YC Softball Coach Stacy Iveson, and boy was she right!! Congratulations to Jenna (Rodriguez) DiPrima!
