For the third straight year, the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo Foundation has contributed $10,000 to a scholarship fund it created to help Yavapai College agriculture, equine, and large livestock management students pay for college.
The Prescott Frontier Rodeo Foundation’s Expendable Annual Gift Agreement created in 2022 provides students up to $2,000 each per academic year to finance their college journeys. Previously, the PFD Foundation had been providing smaller scholarships more broadly in the community, but board members wanted to make a more significant impact on individual students and chose to focus their scholarship giving at Yavapai College.
“From my perspective, Yavapai College is unique in the agriculture and animal management programs it offers, so this is a no brainer,” said Bill Oden, vice president of the PFD Foundation board.
The Prescott Frontier Days Foundation is the charitable arm of Prescott Frontier Days, Inc. Its motto is, “We Rodeo. We Give.” Along with scholarship giving at YC, the foundation’s mission includes preserving, protecting, improving and enhancing the infrastructure of the World’s Oldest Rodeo, education about western heritage and the historical significance of the Prescott Frontier Rodeo, curating the Prescott Frontier Rodeo Hall of Fame and Museum, and helping individuals and families affected by catastrophic illness or events.
“We are grateful and proud of our partnership with the Prescott Frontier Days Foundation,” said Mary Talosi, executive director of the Yavapai College Foundation. “Their scholarship giving makes college possible for our students who in turn help strengthen the agricultural and livestock industries that have long been vital to our communities.”
