Yavapai College invites you to share the raw and honest sound of an artist whose powerful, heartfelt storytelling set the standard for rock anthems in the 80’s and 90’s. Seats are still available for Grammy-winning, roof-raising rocker Melissa Etheridge’s I’m Not Broken Tour, Friday night October 11 at 7 p.m. at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center on Yavapai College’s Prescott Campus.

Known for her confessional lyrics and smoky vocals, Melissa Etheridge has lit up airwaves and arenas across the world for more than three decades, with classics like “I’m the Only One,” “Come to My Window” and “I Want to Come Over.”

Melissa Etheridge took the American rock scene by storm in the late 1980’s with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album. For several years, Melissa’s trademark sound and tough, honest insights on life and love built her a following, with hits like “Bring Me Some Water,” “No Souvenirs” and “Ain’t It Heavy” -- which she won her a Grammy® in 1992.

With her fourth album, Yes, I Am, (1993) Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride. The powerful longing of “I’m the Only One” and “Come to My Window,” won Etheridge her second Grammy and became anthems of love and loss in the early 90’s. 1995’s Your Little Secret, featuring the hit single, “I Want to Come Over,” became her highest-charting album and led her to Songwriter of the Year honors at the ASCAP Pop Awards in 1996.

In 2007, Melissa Etheridge won an Oscar for Best Song, “I Need to Wake Up,” written for Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” documentary. A resilient performer, Melissa Etheridge was candid about her sexual orientation long before it was considered commercially safe to do so. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, she fought through chemotherapy to sing “Piece of My Heart,” in tribute to Janis Joplin, on the 2005 Grammy Awards, inspiring many women afflicted with the disease.

In 2024, she released Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken, a two-part docuseries on Paramount+ and an accompanying live album. Recorded live at the Topeka Correctional facility, the album and docuseries follow her journey penning and performing an original song inspired by her correspondence with residents of the TCF and features raw and rousing versions of specially curated fan favorites and original songs.

Tickets for Melissa Etheridge start at $59, with two VIP packages available. The ticket price includes a 1% fee assessed for the Etheridge Foundation, which advances transformative new treatments for opioid use disorder (OUD) through advocacy and groundbreaking research.
