Celebrated troupe returns to the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center Jan. 25
Imagine a company of artists performing astonishing feats of strength, balance and physical dexterity – then imagine them wrapping it all in a silken cloak of elegance, music and grace. The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center proudly invites you to join us for the return of The Peking Acrobats, Saturday evening, January 25, at 7 p.m., on Yavapai College’s Prescott Campus.
For the last 30 years, The Peking Acrobats have combined traditional costuming and ancient folk-art traditions with amazing displays of strength, flexibility and power. This storied acrobatic troupe presents a jaw-dropping performance that amazes adults and children alike.
“At no time have we seen anything like the Peking Acrobats. Feats of clowning, dexterity, grace, strength and coordination rippled from the stage in a series of pleasurable waves. One was left waterlogged in wonder.”
-- The Chicago Tribune
Featured in television and cinema, The Peking Acrobats have redefined Chinese acrobatics. They set a world record on FOX TV’s Guinness Book Primetime show by balancing six people precariously atop six chairs 21 feet in the air – without safety lines. The troupe was also featured on ABC’s Wide World of Sports, and in the hit film Ocean’s Eleven.
In performance, the acrobats move fluidly through a vast repertoire of maneuvers including trick-cycling, precision tumbling, gymnastics and, of course, a precarious pagoda of chairs. Accompanied by live musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments and high-tech special effects, The Peking Acrobats create an exuberant spectacle with all the excitement and pageantry of a Chinese Carnival!
Tickets for The Peking Acrobats start at $39, with $10 youth tickets available. The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center is located on the Yavapai College Prescott Campus, 1100 E. Sheldon Street, in Prescott.
