SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY Yavapai College Foundation through our auxiliaries and volunteers support the needs and opportunities in our communities across our county.
Friends planting another three acres at Plant-a-Vine in May.
Friends of the Southwest Wine Center supports
and raises funds for the Southwest Wine Center located on the Yavapai College Verde Valley Campus. The center will serve as a hub of education, research and rural economic development activity designed to support a young viticulture industry in achiev- ing its potential as a significant U.S. wine-producing region. At the core of the center will be five key components: academic programs, student-run vineyard, full-production teaching winery, knowledge gateway and data repository, and business linkages. FoSWC supports the center through outreach events such as “Plant-a-Vine” in May and hosts the annual “Wine & Dine in the Vines” in the fall.
Friends welcoming the new Dean for Arts and Humanities, Dr. Craig Ralston (wearing blue tie), with a tour of the Yavapai College Sculpture Garden.
Friends of YC Art (FRIENDS) supports students and faculty in the Visual Arts Department. Members are committed to raising funds for scholarships and special projects that embrace the student and professional artwork within the community. Friends established the two-acre Sculpture Garden that is accented with a growing collection of innovative, design- based, contemporary sculpture and natural landscaping. The garden, together with the Art Gallery and the YCPAC, provide area citizens a rich and varied palette of experiences. Friends organize projects and educational events that assist, support and raise funds for the Sculpture Garden, student scholarships, the Art Department, Art a la Carte and most recently their annual fundraiser, Mosaic Magic, in September.
FOM collects pocket change for scholarships at all Yavapai College music performances.
Friends of Music (FOM) is helping to keep the Music Department strong by providing scholarship assistance to outstanding student musicians. For example, the ever-popular “Pocket Change” program has supported numerous scholarship awards. This year, the instrumental “Holiday Hits” concert and the vocal “Gospel Choir” concert will be co-sponsored by the Friends of Music and the Music Department, with proceeds going directly to student scholarships. Make time to enjoy the many Music Department programs.

The Friends of the Family Enrichment Center
(FOFEC) works to raise awareness and financial support
for the Del E. Webb Family Enrichment Center, YC’s labora-
tory school and early child development center located on the Prescott campus. FOFEC volunteers are engaged in activities such as the annual “Framing the Future” fundraising luncheon and promoting donations via the Arizona Tax Credit program through the Prescott Sunrise Lions Club (see page 6). FOFEC
is actively involved in fundraising efforts to build a strong endow- ment fund that will ensure a long-term sustainable funding stream for the quality enhancements that create the margin of excellence for which the FEC has come to be known.
