Yavapai College has proven to be a forerunner in technical training. In partnership with the Regional Economic Development Center, the CTE division has increased capacity to engage employers and create job-driven educational programing. In support of this training effort, the College’s Regional Economic Development Center (REDC) provides traditional and real-time labor market information for program development, and conducts regular inquiry into industry needs through workforce roundtables.
As Yavapai County moves forward with regional business attraction and expansion partnerships, the community can rest assured that the county’s regional labor force creates a competitive effect that will place our community at the front of the pack.
Yavapai College Foundation scholarship recipient Shawn Walker is a first-year student in the college’s Fire Science program.
Alexandria Wright, YC Director of Economic Development, meets with an SBDC client at the College’s Sedona Center.
Cooperation Is The Name of The Game
Cooperation is the sine qua non of regional economic development, and the College and Foundation are happy to play their parts. Here are a few examples of how YC and YCF work with key civic/government organizations on economic development issues:
• YC and YCF regularly sponsor and present special educational forums and meetings of the two Regional Economic Development Organizations in Yavapai County, VVREO and GPREP.
• YC/YCF leadership staff members serve on the Boards of most major civic and economic development-related boards, including Chambers of Commerce, PVEDC, CEDC, GPREP, VVREO, NACOG–LWIB and –EDC.
• YC-REDC provides state-of-the-art workforce studies and demand analyses for Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, and cities and towns throughout the County.
• YCF sponsors Prescott Chamber Annual Meeting each year; Steve Walker is Current Board Chairman
