Recognition Programs
YC offers a variety of Recognition Programs for Staff and Faculty
All YC Employees
When you fill out the form a certificate of gratitude sent to the person and their name is listed on the website for a long time! It only takes a moment, and a simple "I appreciate you" is usually enough to brighten someone's day.
This is open to all staff members, full-time, part-time… it doesn't matter. Let's celebrate the hard work and dedication our staffers give every day. We look forward to seeing your nominations!
Sponsored by the Yavapai College Staff Association Awards Committee
Our new recognition program will focus on rewarding faculty and staff members who consistently embody the behaviors of an Outward Mindset at work. In honor of the Outward Mindset tool “See Others, Adjust Effort to be More Helpful, and Measure Impact.”
Every month a Roughrider is recognized from each division for their dedication to belonging and the YC WAY!
The purpose of the Roughrider Salute Employee of the Month program is to recognize one staff member each month in each division who exhibit work and behavior that supports and furthers the mission, goals, and initiatives of Yavapai College by way of:
• Service Excellence
• Relationship Excellence
• Job Knowledge & Functions
• Continuous Learning
Also, the Roughrider Salute recognizes those employees who show exemplary individual achievement, contribution, and performance in their jobs and other related duties beyond their own, to make the workplace more efficient and more welcoming to co-workers, students, and the community.
Any employee who wins a monthly Roughrider Salute is automatically eligible for the Employee of the Year award given out at Fall Convocation!

The Richard and Loretta Wright Scholarship is designed to encourage and support the career development of full-time employees (non-faculty) of Yavapai College.
“Career Development” is intended to be interpreted in a very broad and open-ended manner and need not be restricted to enhancing skills within existing positions, but can also support activities intended to help enable employees move into other positions within the College. At its essence, any proposed activity deemed supportive of career development is eligible for support.
Staff who have been employed at least one year are eligible to apply for scholarships to help fund conferences, workshops or staff development opportunities that will equip or enhance skills directly related to the employee’s position. The maximum amount of the award is up to $500/per scholarship.
Faculty
If you have experienced excellent teaching or know of an instructor going above and beyond in the classroom, you can recognize this effort by nominating them for the Teaching and Learning Committee (TLC) Fellowship Award for Teaching Excellence.
- Students: has a Yavapai College teacher made a big difference for you? inspired you or helped you succeed where you thought you might not?
- Teachers: have you noticed a colleague going above and beyond to help his/her students?
Yavapai College has determined that those faculty who have retired after 15 years of teaching and have shown extraordinary service to the College may be nominated for Emeritus Faculty status.
The faculty who are showcased here have been recognized for their excellence in teaching and their extraordinary service to the College.
