Welcome to the Yavapai College Library, the only government document depository in Yavapai County.

Our mission is to enhance the academic, professional, cultural, and lifelong learning needs of the Yavapai College community. We do this by providing environments, services and programs that promote discovery, engagement and the value of lifelong learning. Our talented, friendly, and award-winning staff are dedicated to helping you find the information and resources you need.

Year at a glance

Listening To Our Students. Yavapai College Library conducted a Space Survey for students as well as conducted their annual Environmental Scan of library spaces. Based on student responses and evaluation of actual space usage, the library: Removed computers carrels to make room for study pods, Purchased bean bags, Added more individual study tables, Made alterations on study room policies.

Back On Campus. Since opening in June, over 44,000 visitors have come to the Prescott & Verde Valley libraries. 44,000 Visitors.3,626 Study Room Users

Hispanic Outreach. Yavapai College library created the Spanish Café to strengthen the communication efforts at the college by providing YC employees, students, and community members the opportunity to mingle and work on their Spanish and/or English at the Prescott and Verde Valley Campus libraries. Students from the ESL and SPA classes have enjoyed themed gatherings where, along with language, they have the opportunity to increase their cultural awareness and share with members of the community.

Hispanic Outreach pt 2. Both campus libraries have increased the number of Spanish material available, hardcopy and online, and a new Spanish collection has been added at the Prescott Campus library.

Library Instruction Anywhere. The Yavapai College Library Instruction team made themselves available over Zoom for 35 students and taught 602 students in-person since June 1, 2021. In addition, the YC Library Scavenger Hunt is now LIVE! The Scavenger Hunt is an online activity that teaches students how to navigate the Library’s website, discover library resources, and contains a practical application for newly-acquired research skills. "I didn’t know what a database was when I came to class. Now I know enough to 'be dangerous'. And it’s EASY!” —YC English student. 35 Zoom Students. 602 In-Person Students

Reaching Online Students. Yavapai College library strives to provide 24/7 resource access to our growing online student population. With access to over 38 databases with a variety of subtopics ranging from anatomy to feature films. The library recently added another streaming video database to support courses such as Biology, Philosophy, Agriculture, Social Sciences, and more.

Delivering Literary Excellence. Yavapai College library is now working with Jim Natal to provide technical support for The Literary Southwest. Library staff will now be responsible for streaming the event to hundreds of viewers over Zoom and on YouTube.

Fulfilling Student Technology Needs. During the pandemic Yavapai College library began supplying students with much needed Wi-Fi Hotspots to complete their courses from home. After seeing the library's infrastructure for material delivery through our partnership with the Yavapai Library Network, ITS decided to partner with the library to deliver laptops to students as well. This service has only grown, with the library becoming the bridge between students and YC technology delivery. In addition to laptops, and Wi-Fi Hotspots, the library will now be responsible for distributing film equipment to YC's Film Studies students. 183 Laptop checkouts. 92 Wi-Fi Hotspot checkouts.

Distinguished Guest Lecture Series. The library’s Distinguished Guest Lecture Series (DGLS) was started in spring 2018. We have always offered in-person lectures but in spring 2022 the library added Zoom as an option for attending. The feedback for our lectures having this option has been positive. So far, more than 50 guests this semester have attended our lectures via Zoom, and we have welcomed in-person attendees as well. The support for our series continues to grow. The library and YC faculty/staff work collaboratively to continue the series and it remains a platform for YC faculty/staff to present in their areas of expertise.
