The General Education Committee promotes high quality standards in the general education curriculum to ensure student success for both A.A.S. and transfer degrees. Activities of the group include, but are not limited to, reviewing general education assessment data, review and evaluate revisions to criteria, descriptions, and outcomes in general education categories and makes recommendations to the curriculum committee, reviews and changes to courses listed on the general education lists for optimum transferability, and reviews changes to a general education component of any degree offered at YC, and assist in the planning and facilitating of Assessment Day or Progression Day. - Oversees, reviews, and evaluates revisions to criteria, descriptions, and outcomes in all General Education categories at the College and makes recommendations to the Curriculum Committee.
- Reviews any changes to courses listed on General Education lists and send recommendations on to the Curriculum Committee.
- Reviews any changes to the General Education component of any degree offered at Yavapai College and make a recommendation to the Curriculum Committee.
- Assists in planning, organizing, and facilitating General Education Curriculum activities on Assessment Day.
Membership consists of faculty representatives from each of the state’s AGEC categories (First Year Composition, Math, Arts & Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Physical and Biological Sciences), as well as faculty representatives from occupational education divisions.
Our members also include representatives from Student Advising and the Office of Academic Instruction, as well as the Curriculum and SLOA Committee Chairs.
